Who Are We

At Momentum, we do cool stuff and have a blast doing it. Our passion is leveraging digital content to entertain and inspire the masses. We are constantly in search of innovative people and ideas that push the limits of what has been done, and what can be done. We believe the future of sports entertainment lies in the hands of digital creators, and we exist to pioneer that future.

The Mission

Our goal is to be the most viewed sports entertainment network in the country by 2030. The mission of this role is to take captured content and develop the most highly entertaining and engaging stories to help propel us towards that goal.

Objectives

  1. Average 65+% viewer retention rate for all long-form videos
  2. Average 95+% viewer retention rate for all short-form videos

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Using your pre-production, production and post-production skills, you will be expected to edit at least 4 long-form videos and 8 short-form videos per month. You will be responsible for editing the highest quality footage, producing equally impressive edits to be published on Momentum channels, and working ahead of deadlines. The highest levels of entertainment, innovation and authenticity occur here on a daily basis; it is your job to make sure the world sees the best version of it.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Previous work experience as a collegiate or professional sports videographer/editor.
  • Hands-on experience with editing software (i.e. Final Cut Pro X)
  • Adept in Basic video editing skills (i.e. basic sound design, dialogues, graphics and effects, etc.)
  • Proven ability to generate ideas and see them through to completed projects.
  • Constant desire to discover and implement new editing techniques and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.
  • History of creative storytelling and artistic skills.

Required Competencies

To succeed in this position and assimilate with our culture, you will need to excel in the following areas:

  • Professionalism: Be accountable for your actions and respect your coworkers. Show up on time and follow through on what you say you will do. You are part of a team, act like it.
  • Honesty and Transparency: Make mistakes, but don’t make excuses for them. Fail and learn from it, but don’t lie about it. We need to know we can trust you.
  • Curiosity And Learning Aptitude: Ask informed questions and learn new skills quickly or risk falling behind.
  • Communication: Share information and ideas freely. Give credit where credit is due. Ask informed questions. Propose ideas and argue for your ideas. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Be clear, direct, and objective, not emotional. Address problems face to face, don’t gossip behind peoples backs.
  • Overall Productivity: Produce results and help others produce as well. We are only as strong as our weakest link. Lack of performance hurts everyone.
  • Problem Solving: Think first, share second, act third. Take ownership of problems and propose solutions, don’t wait to be told what to do. Do this confidently and decisively, but not arrogantly.
  • Courage and Resolve: Have a spine and use it. Tough times will inevitably present themselves. Have the courage to stand up for what you believe in, stand up for others, and adhere to our principles.
  • Teamwork: The team's success comes first. Build others up, don’t tear them down. Get to know your teammates as people. Share resources and insight. Find ways to be generally helpful.
  • Self Discipline and Work Ethic: We work odd and long hours because we enjoy it, not because we have to. Work, study, learn, and improve. Devote yourself to becoming the best in the world at your position.

Job Fit Competencies

  • Attention to Detail: Plan. Prepare. Execute. Upload and backup footage religiously. Make sure your equipment works well before a planned shoot. Don’t let things slip through the cracks. Small cracks turn into gaping holes.
  • Creative Storytelling and Problem Solving: You can develop and present succinct and entertaining stories from the resources and ingredients in front of you. If they’re not in front of you, you have the ability to find alternate solutions.
  • Stamina: Shooting days run long and edits have deadlines. Maintaining your focus and energy for long hours is imperative.
  • Organization: Don’t be a mess. Know where to find the appropriate materials at a moment's notice. Name files and folders in a logical manner. Organization creates efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Professional Acumen: You will work routinely with High-Profile people and personalities. It’s your job to get to know the talent, make them feel comfortable, and get the most out of them.
  • Dare to Test: Generate new ideas often. Find ways to improve your work. Pay attention to what the audience enjoys most about your work and develop ways to do that more often.
