In addition, observes the movement of earthwork and completes relevant paperwork and reports. To be successful as an Equipment Operator must be able to consistently follow health and safety regulations and be able to take instructions from superiors. Outstanding Equipment Operators should display great hand and foot coordination and always be thinking of ways to improve efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Must be able to operate backhoe, excavator, bulldozer, skid steer, and vibratory roller Ensures all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations Clean, lubricate, and perform regular safety checks on equipment Ensures equipment is properly positioned before turning it on and off or loading and unloading it Trains new crew members in the safe operation of equipment Performs other construction duties as assigned Observes the safe distribution of concrete and other materials Promptly reports all faults to the Site Supervisor Ensures sites are kept clean and safe Attends meetings and refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operation Identifys faults and troubleshooting equipment as required Other job-related duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Relevant license and safety certifications Clean driving record Prior experience operating equipment Must be able to operate backhoe, excavator, bulldozer, skid steer, and vibratory roller Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of safety requirements Ability to follow orders, especially under pressure Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills Ability to adhere to strict deadlines A sound understanding of health and safety codes A positive outlook and a willingness to learn A completed apprenticeship program would be advantageous Physical Demands Individuals must have the ability to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of workday and capability to move within the field. Any person in this position needs the ability to operate any field equipment used within the Construction Industry. There is a requirement to traverse multiple terrain types in outdoor weather conditions along with the ability to position self in a stoop, kneel, or crouch position. Individuals must be able to wear full construction PPE and have ability to enter confined spaces.
