Successful candidate will provide clinical assistance to professional staff and a variety of treatments to patients admitted to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). Candidates will have the opportunity to actively participate in one-on-one training of veterinary students, as well as work alongside veterinary specialists to provide clients and patients with the highest standard of care.This is a full-time position with varying shifts and hours. Shift differentials are available for non-traditional shifts. Every full-time employee receives a full benefits package. The VTH admits more than 15,500 clinical cases per year, and hospitalizes 5-8 ICU cases per day. Our hospital is equipped with digital radiography, MRI, CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, 24-hour access to full clinical pathology lab, oxygen cages, pulse oximetry, capnography, I-Stat point-of-care testing, telemetry, blood pressure and central venous pressure monitoring, Pleur-Evac® suction units, and ventilator therapy. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to interact with 20 small animal specialists, as well as a supportive group of interns and residents. If you are interested in pursuing your VTS, this is the place to workThis position is in the large animal ICU area of the hospital.Required QualificationsHigh School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)Two years related experience; or Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program with two years related experience; or Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences or related area; or DVM degree or equivalent.Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses: Valid driver's license.Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:Experience in restraint of small and large animals, administering injections, and placement of IV (peripheral, central, and urinary) catheters is essential. Must have knowledge of equipment used within VTH including, but not limited to: personal computer, telephone, copy machine, laser, video endoscope, diagnostic lab equipment, camera/video camera, electrodiagnostic equipment, etc. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally. Physically capable of lifting large animals onto exam tables and into elevated cages.Preferred QualificationsAssociate's Veterinary TechnologyFive years experience as a Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA or credentials in a specialty that VTH defines as meriting recognition.
