We are currently seeking a Grain Originator to join our go-to-market team in Davenport, IA. This role involves working closely with customers to secure grain and develop marketing programs. The ideal candidate must possess strong decision-making skills, attention to detail, and exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written. This position offers room for growth within CHS.
Responsibilities
- Proactively engage with country elevators and farmer producers, representing CHS and providing updates on market trends and quotes.
- Manage a territory including customers near CHS facilities in Annawan, IL, Davenport, IA, and Peru, IL.
- Expand CHS business by acquiring new customers and exploring new regions.
- Cultivate long-term relationships with key accounts, understanding their objectives to tailor procurement strategies.
- Source CHS products from producers and elevators based on strategic guidelines. Communicate bid changes and closing bids promptly and accurately.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Stay informed about industry reports and trends, sharing relevant information with stakeholders.
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with CHS policies.
- Collaborate internally with various teams for information exchange.
- Coordinate customer shipments and execute CHS logistics strategies.
- Achieve cross-selling success across multiple product lines.
- Follow the CHS sales cycle to achieve targeted outcomes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, and/or Commodities.
- Excellent relationship-building skills.
- Strong customer service abilities including negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making capabilities.
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic understanding of trucking and rail operations, logistics impact, and hedging strategy.
- Preferably a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields.
- Pre-employment screenings may be required.
