Role Overview We are seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented Senior Data Scientist to lead the migration and validation of XGBoost-based machine learning models from Java (DL4J) to Python, using a custom-built internal framework. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in Python ML ecosystems, proficiency in PySpark, and an understanding of Java-based model architectures, ensuring seamless migration and metric parity across environments. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with client and internal teams to understand Java-based XGBoost model logic, parameters, and data transformations. Migrate and validate ML models from Java (DL4J) to Python, ensuring alignment in structure, logic, and output metrics. Analyze and validate feature pipelines, data transformations, and training workflows for consistency. Execute Python-converted models on historical datasets and verify outputs against Java benchmarks. Design unit tests, validation scenarios, and data integrity checks to support model sign-off. Work closely with PySpark engineers and validation teams to ensure smooth integration with data platforms. Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) and troubleshoot row-level prediction differences when required. Required Skills & Qualifications 7-10 years of hands-on experience in Python for machine learning model development. Proven expertise with XGBoost, scikit-learn, NumPy, and pandas. Strong experience with PySpark for handling and transforming large-scale datasets (especially Parquet format). Exposure to Java-based ML libraries (e.g., DL4J) or understanding of cross-language ML implementation. Solid background in model validation, performance comparison, and reverse engineering ML logic. Familiarity with Python meta-modelling frameworks and best practices for ML model reproducibility. Nice to Have Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Familiarity with MLOps tools, Git, and CI/CD pipelines for machine learning projects. Excellent analytical and communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.
