General Legal Counsel

Job Title: General Legal Counsel

Hours: 15 hours per week on average

Start date: October, 2024

Duration: No end date, potential for permanent hire

Setup: Onsite in Spokane, WA

Pay Rate: $80-100/hour


Requirements:

-Experience providing general legal advice across departments for a mass transit authority

-Proactively identify potential legal issues that could impact the client

-Maintain knowledge of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations and rulemaking that impact the client

-Experience attending, reviewing and approving monthly Board and committee agendas and action/information items to be considered by the Entity Board of Directors

-Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, current case law and relevant issues affecting/ impacting the client

-Ability to represent, coordinate and/or support, as required, litigation/defense counsel

-Ability to assist with grant application complaints

-Ability to report to and receive assignments from the Board, the Chief Executive Officer or his/her designated representatives

-Ability to respond to inquiries from individual members of the client's Board of Directors related to clients existing governance and policies and procedures, or for other matters authorized by the Board

-Ability to review, consult, edit and provide guidance on procurement solicitations and contracts as needed


Qualifications:

-Washington bar license required

-5+ years of relevant experience required

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently
