Residence Hall Utility WorkerPenn State University Park Housing is searching for a full time Residence Hall Utility Worker to join their team. Duties include:Empty and clean waste containersRemove and dispose of all trash and debris from buildingMove bags and carts of accumulated linens to linen lockers or to receiving areas for pick-upReceive, move, sort, store and deliver equipment, furnishings, linen and operational supplies; open cartons, move trunks, suitcases and other items to and from student rooms or storage areas as requiredClean floors and stairs by sweeping, wet and dry mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming, as instructedClean carpets using vacuum cleaner and rug shampooerMove furniture and other items to and from receiving storage and/or use areas to allow for cleaning, repairs, transfer, set-up, etcAssemble and disassemble furniture such as double decker beds, desks, etcShovel snow, spread sawdust or calcium and sweep outside buildings as directedEmpty outside trash containers and pick-up litter outside buildings in residence hall areaClean window wells; keep drains free of litterClose windows, turn off lights and lock doorsLock and unlock buildings as directedKeep equipment clean, polished, and properly storedMaintain storage areas in a clean conditionReport maintenance problems, unusual conditions, damages and losses to SupervisorTurn in found items immediately to SupervisorSubstitute as requested for Residence Hall WorkerLamp and relamp lighting fixtures (When using ladders employee is restricted to standing on step not over 48 inches above floor surface.)Job Requirements: Requires the use of simple writing, adding, subtracting, whole numbers and the carrying out of instructions; and the use of fixed gauges and direct reading instruments and devices in which interpretation is not required. Over 1 and up to 2 months of qualifying/or on-the-job training.Work Schedule: Multiple shifts available
