This position is designed for a self-motivated RN with notable tech skills who is responsible for the audit and analysis of clinical documentation improvement (CDI) within Bloom Hospice. This critical role plays a pivotal part in maintaining high standards of patient care and regulatory compliance. The RN Clinical Auditor & Quality Review Specialist conducts thorough reviews of patient records, identifies discrepancies, and collaborates with the clinical and administrative teams to make necessary corrections and improvements. The specialist will work remotely but must ensure regular and consistent communication with the hospice team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review patient medical records, including clinical notes, assessments, plans of care, and other documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with hospice and regulatory standards
  • Assess the completeness and quality of clinical documentation and adherence to hospice care policies and procedures
  • Stay current with federal and state regulations and ensure that the hospice program is in compliance with these standards
  • Provide feedback and reports to the clinical and administrative teams regarding chart deficiencies, offering guidance and recommendations for improvements
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training programs for clinical staff to improve documentation practices and ensure compliance. Educate team members on best practices in charting, documentation, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in the preparation for external audits by ensuring all records are complete, accurate, and in compliance with regulations
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and work with relevant teams to implement changes that enhance chart accuracy and compliance
  • Interact and educate medical professionals, enhancing the understanding of the CDI program
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to recognize and mitigate any documentation risks
  • Engage in data-driven initiatives to enhance organizational performance and CDI processes
  • Analyze data related to patient outcomes and clinical performance to assess the effectiveness of healthcare services
  • Offer support for any vendor-specific software products used within the hospice

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse or a related field preferred
  • Proven experience in healthcare chart auditing or quality assurance
  • In-depth knowledge of hospice care regulations and compliance requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in medical record software and Microsoft Office applications
  • Certification in healthcare quality assurance or auditing is a plus

The pay range for this role in the state of Colorado typically falls between $36.41 - $60.69 per hour with the potential for performance-based bonuses and other benefits.
