Department Manager, Commercial LinesA respected insurance brokerage with over 100 years in central NJ is seeking a seasoned commercial insurance leader to head its high-performing commercial lines team. This position offers a hybrid schedule after 90 days and reports directly to the COO.Key Responsibilities:Manage and mentor a team of Account Managers and service staffOversee hiring, training, performance reviews, and career developmentFoster a collaborative, sales-oriented culture focused on retention and growthOperational Oversight:Ensure department meets or exceeds service, sales, and retention goalsConduct renewal meetings, monitor progress, and lead departmental updatesOptimize workflows and conduct quality audits to ensure compliance and efficiencyClient & Carrier Relations:Act as a technical advisor and liaison between clients, carriers, and internal teamsSupport client retention and new business efforts through strategic presentationsPromote cross-sell and account rounding opportunitiesStrategic Contribution:Collaborate with executive leadership to align departmental goals with broader growth initiativesParticipate in strategy sessions and contribute to new program developmentMaintain advanced knowledge of market trends, coverage solutions, and risk management strategiesQualifications:7+ years proven experience managing commercial insurance operations and personnelStrong technical knowledge across casualty lines, property, and specialty coveragesProficiency in Epic, Sagitta, ImageRight, and related systemsExceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skillsHold an industry designation such as ARM, CIC, CPCU, commitment to continuous learning and professional developmentBenefits:Tangible commitment to continuous growth through collaboration, exchange and further educationOpportunities to obtain advanced industry designationsFlexible Work ScheduleHybrid In-Office/Remote Options401(k) with Match + Profit Sharing PlanComprehensive Medical, Life and ancillary Insurance CoverageThis is a rare opportunity for a distinguished insurance professional to lead within a growth-focused organization that values innovation, integrity, and excellence.
