Brunel is looking to hire a Lease Operator to work with a major oil and gas company in Ardmore, OK on a long term contract.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure personal safety and the safety of co-workers by following and enforcing all safety rules.
  • Act as the primary operations contact for assigned facilities, with a strong understanding of process flow, basic chemistry, major line-ups, and unit safety equipment.
  • Review computer data and schematics to optimize processes.
  • Physically inspect and monitor equipment and work areas using vision, hearing, smell, and touch to ensure proper operation.
  • Issue Safe Work Permits, requiring proficiency in current operating conditions and understanding of chemical, personnel, and process safety risks.
  • Perform gas testing as necessary to ensure safe operating conditions for maintenance activities.
  • Conduct process monitoring activities, including gauging tanks, reading meters, recording data, taking product samples, and checking for leaks, freezing, and overheating.
  • Perform "visual maintenance" by checking critical performance parameters such as temperature, pressure, level, flow rate, and vibration.
  • Adjust local process parameters to maintain product specifications within the optimal operating window.
  • Maintain company vehicles in good working condition.
  • Coordinate oil sales and saltwater hauling as necessary.
  • Accurately maintain electronic or paper gauge sheets and note reasons for production changes.
  • Check control valve positions to ensure correct positioning.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance, including adding lube oil, tightening valve packing, and changing filters.
  • Perform winterization and summarization of equipment for maximum efficiency.
  • Monitor field equipment using electronic test equipment, including handheld monitors and computer systems.
  • Inspect safety equipment, including safety valves, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, and breathing apparatus.


Skills and Qualifications:


  • High School diploma required; college degree or trade school certificate preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • Willingness to work on a rotating shift and be available for call-outs as needed.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Proficiency in maintaining, operating, and repairing surface equipment associated with oil and gas production.
  • Strong computer skills, with excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Physical ability to lift over 50 lbs and climb ladders or stairways.
  • Ability to use a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and other safety detectors and equipment.
