Deli Operations SpecialistAlbertsons-Safeway's Northern California Division has an opening for a Deli Operations Specialist. This role is based in South San Francisco, CA and directly supports 20 retail stores' Deli operations in the San Francisco area (District 3), including retail stores in San Francisco and San Mateo counties.The Operations Specialist monitors, enforces, and supports execution of the division merchandising plan for their department in assigned stores.ResponsibilitiesTravels to assigned stores working with the Department Manager and staff to share merchandising plans for departments to meet sales, gross, and labor targetsWorks with and counsels department managers and Store Directors in all aspects of product merchandising and customer serviceVisits stores and evaluates on overall department presentation, cleanliness, and compliance to company policy and proceduresDevelops and maintains training programs that will ensure the availability of qualified associates to fill respective departments' positions in the companyParticipates in departmental and divisional sales meetingsOversees departmental sales, labor, and gross profit reporting from assigned storesImplements new merchandising programs and strategies and makes sure department staff is properly trainedMonitors competitor activitiesAssists in opening new and remodeled storesProvides merchandising input back to Division Sales Managers and Assistant Sales ManagerMeasures: Store-level performance through department sales, gross profit, and labor percentExecutes plans measured through store visits, reviewing results of plans, and observing store department conditionsDetermines success of training programs by reviewing and assessing evaluationsSalary range is $68,640 to $95,500 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.QualificationsEducation Level: Bachelor's degree in business or related field and/or previous experience in merchandising of assigned product area and retail sales experience preferredSkills and ExperiencesMust possess previous Department Manager and Store Director experiencePossess good written and verbal communication skills and deal effectively with a wide variety of people both in-person and over the phonePossess a marketing orientation, good analytical and problem-solving abilitiesPossess math skills to complete straightforward analysisPossess strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate others without directly supervisingProvide work guidance to store associates in areas such as product knowledge, sales and marketing techniques, understanding of profit and loss and compliance with company policiesTrains department managers on the basics of the business and managing their departmentProvides input to Store Director on Store Department Manager evaluationTravel Requirements: Position may require some travel (up to 75%), including occasional weekend travelPhysical EnvironmentMost work is performed in a temperature-controlled environmentIncumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminalIncumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workdayStore visits involve regular standing, walking, climbing stairs and movement in and around machinery and hazardous equipment, as well as backstage receiving and production areasStooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job dutiesWorkday is fast-paced and stressfulWhy You'll Love Working With UsAt Albertsons Companies, people are at the heart of everything we do.
