The role:

We are seeking an adaptable and results-oriented Attorney with at least 2-3 years' experience practicing. Must be barred and in good standing in NY/NJ. Managerial or leadership experience a plus, and experience litigating strongly preferred. You will be responsible for assisting in managing all aspects of a team of paralegals including caseload, coaching, meetings, advising, preparing for trials, organizing caseload, research, drafting or reviewing documents, coordinating with Managing Attorneys, and representing clients in negotiations or court.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in management, motivation, and development of paralegals, and support staff to strengthen our legal team
  • Assist in managing all aspects of the team, including caseload, coaching, meetings, advising, preparing for trials, organizing caseload, research, drafting or reviewing documents, and representing clients in negotiations or court
  • Represent and grow your own caseload (particularly complex cases) to continue your practice as an attorney
  • Keep current on the latest industry trends and developments
  • Help translate the team goals and priorities into strategic plans
  • Experience developing and executing comprehensive strategies to enhance both structure and success of the overall team
  • Report on key operational and substantive metrics for the practice that will better inform decision-making, including matter and work product analyses
  • Ensure that the team is achieving its goals by evaluating productivity, quality of service and making recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate with leadership and colleagues to brainstorm strategies, share knowledge, and contribute to the overall success of the company
  • Define, drive and inspire execution and efficiency
  • Be a visible leader and figurehead of the department


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises approximately 3-5 employees
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Consumer Legal Groups policies and applicable laws Planning, assigning, and directing work
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Approving timecards and paid time off
  • Conducting meetings and coaching sessions as necessary
  • Appraising performance
  • Rewarding and disciplining employees


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:

  • Juris Doctorate required
  • Barred & in good standing in NY required
  • 2-3 years of practical experience
  • Managerial or leadership experience a plus
  • Experience litigating strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a start-up or small business is preferred
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities within tight time constraints
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills.
