JOB TITLE: Athletic Trainer


CLASSIFICATION: 10- Month/Salary/Full-Time/Exempt


REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics


JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Athletic Trainer to join our team at Tampa Preparatory School. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping athletes and individuals achieve their peak performance while maintaining their overall well-being. The Athletic Trainer will provide comprehensive care, including injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation, to support athletes. In addition, they will have teaching responsibilities (Emergency Medical Response, Health and/or Physical Education. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 


Injury Prevention and Management:


○      Develop and implement injury prevention programs tailored to the needs of athletes.

○      Conduct thorough assessments of injuries and conditions.

○      Provide immediate care and first aid for acute injuries.

○      Develop and oversee rehabilitation programs to ensure safe and effective recovery.


Training and Conditioning:


○      Design and deliver individualized training programs to enhance performance and fitness.

○      Collaborate with coaches, athletes, and other healthcare professionals to optimize training regimens.

○      Monitor progress and adjust training plans as needed.


 Education and Support:


○      Educate athletes on proper techniques, injury prevention, and health maintenance.

○      Offer guidance on nutrition, hydration, and overall wellness to support athletic performance.

○      Provide emotional support and motivation to encourage adherence to training and rehabilitation programs.


Record Keeping and Documentation:


○      Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and progress.

○      Prepare and submit reports as required by management and insurance providers.


Compliance and Safety:


○      Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, guidelines, and safety protocols.

○      Stay updated on the latest advancements in athletic training and injury management.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None


WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS


This position will require working evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the schedule of athletic events and training sessions.


Ability to stand for long periods, lift and carry equipment, and respond quickly to emergency situations.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.


Certification: Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) by the Board of Certification (BOC). Additional certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid required.

○      Strong knowledge of athletic training principles and techniques.

○      Excellent assessment and diagnostic skills.

○      Ability to create and implement effective training and rehabilitation programs.

○      Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

○      Ability to work collaboratively with athletes, coaches, and medical professionals.

○      Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Master’s degree in related field.
