Location: New York City


As a Bridge Design Engineer for our New York-based clients at Hicksville, you will be responsible for designing and overseeing the construction of various bridge projects. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and functionality of bridges while complying with industry standards and regulations. Your expertise will contribute to the development of essential transportation infrastructure in the region.


Key Responsibilities:


Bridge Design: Utilize your engineering knowledge and skills to create innovative and cost-effective bridge designs that meet client requirements and adhere to relevant design codes and guidelines.


Project Management: Manage and coordinate bridge design projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered within budget and timeline constraints.


Structural Analysis: Conduct detailed structural analyses and simulations to assess the bridge's strength, stability, and resilience to different load conditions and environmental factors.


Safety Compliance: Ensure that all bridge designs and construction plans comply with safety regulations, codes, and standards to guarantee the longevity and safety of the infrastructure.


Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of architects, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to incorporate their inputs into the bridge design process and foster a collaborative working environment.


Material Selection: Identify suitable construction materials for bridges, considering factors such as durability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact.


Technical Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical reports, drawings, and specifications for the bridge projects to facilitate clear communication with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.


Permitting and Approvals: Assist in obtaining the necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities for bridge construction projects.


Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to ensure that the final bridge structures meet the required standards and specifications.


Construction Oversight: Provide support during the construction phase, reviewing progress and addressing any design-related issues that may arise.


Job Requirements

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in bridge design, preferably with a background in designing various types of bridges such as truss, arch, cable-stayed, and suspension bridges.
  • Proficiency in using engineering design software and tools, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SAP2000, and other structural analysis software.
  • Strong understanding of industry codes and standards related to bridge design and construction.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality and accurate designs.
