Overview TECHNICAL WRITER (GXP 2026-24403): Bowhead seeks a Technical Writer to join our team in supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division. The Technical Writer will support the Strategic Systems Guidance, Navigation and Control Division (GXP) mission to provide electrical, electronic and mechanical design engineering, software engineering, acquisition, development, new design concepts, software and hardware platforms, production, test, evaluations, integrated logistics support, reliability, maintenance and sustainment functions for a variety of platforms, missile systems, and test facilities. Responsibilities Essential functions will include: Collaborating with a variety of teams and customers to ensure correct information is incorporated into technical documentation.Must be capable of understanding, interpreting and synthesizing engineering drawings, and technical information from engineering documentation, consultations with ISEAs and SMEs, and other available sources. Must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to edit documents for technical accuracy Will be expected to make recommendations and answer questions from customers as well as exercise independent judgment of when to escalate items to higher level staff. May provide direction to lower level Technical Writers. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree is preferred with a minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of relevant work experience in professional, non-Government technical writing role. Applicants with no degree must posses five plus (5) years of experience in a Government technical writing role. Prior experience supporting a program at NSWC Crane is highly preferred. Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures is required. Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Must be able to work under challenging deadlines and be accountable for completing work within specified time frame. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level. Applicants who currently hold a Secret level clearance are strongly encouraged to apply. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location. LI-KM1
