Unit Assistants provide key support to the perioperative service.ResponsibilitiesProvides support to the multidisciplinary health care team to maintain and promote the standards of care and safety.Provides assistance with transportation of patients, room turnover, equipmentHas knowledge of operating room set-ups for various surgical proceduresMaintains supplies at all timesRecognizes when equipment needs repair and follows up with appropriate personnel or departmentMaintains a hazard-free environment by disposing of filled linen hampers and medical waste appropriatelyMaintains sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when addressing patients, visitors, co-workers and other customersPromote a supportive and team-oriented environmentSupport departmental responsibilities consistent with the long-range strategic plan, mission, vision and values of the hospitalMinimum RequirementsGED or High School Diploma requiredHospital and/or operating room experience preferredBLS/Heartsaver certification requiredEssential QualificationsAbility to prioritize workflowStrong patient centered approach with emphasis on providing exemplary and world-class customer serviceMeticulous attention to detailExcellent at multitaskingExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSelf-motivated and proactive; a team player who knows how to think critically in a fast-paced, challenging environmentActive participant in seeking solutions to problemsHospital for Special Surgery is committed to providing high quality care and skilled, compassionate, reliable service to our community in a safe and healing environment.
