Join us as an Equipment Operator and put your expertise to work In this role, you'll operate a variety of heavy machinery and play a key part in maintaining, constructing, and repairing stormwater conveyance systems and roadway rights-of-way.This is your opportunity to build a meaningful career while enjoying the excellent benefits the County has to offer - benefits that start within just 60 days of hireApply today and take pride in knowing your work helps keep our community moving safely and efficiently.About This RoleTransport, operate, and maintain heavy equipment/vehicles and machines such as backhoes, walking excavators, and other related equipment and machines used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of stormwater conveyance systems and their appurtenancesPerform maintenance on county enclosed and open stormwater conveyance systems and their appurtenancesRestore road right-of-ways and properties relating to stormwater maintenance and repairsOperate specialized equipment, walking excavators, backhoes, excavators, arm mowers, and other related equipment required to maintain and repair stormwater conveyance systems and road right-of-way maintenance/constructionMaintain equipment and vehicles as assignedRespond to customer complaints relating to stormwater systems, including pipeline, canal, ditch blockages, and erosion control. Issues on and around the road right of way, water quality concerns, and stormwater flow concernsMay require physically entering aquatic sites when necessaryComplete and submit work orders relating to all work performedRespond to emergency situations as requiredWork Hours :Monday - Thursday OR Tuesday - Friday6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.*On-Call RequiredAbout YouMinimum Qualifications :A High School Diploma or its equivalentTwo (2) years of experience in the operation and routine maintenance of one or more pieces of heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, tractors, etc.State of Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class "A" with Tanker "N" endorsement at the time of hireValid Florida Drives license at the time of hirePreferred Qualifications :Operation of heavy equipment, such as backhoes, front-end loaders, dump trucks, and sewer cleaning equipmentPhysical Demands: Must frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds.Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.
