POSITION SUMMARY:

The Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Operating Officer (CNO/COO) provides strategic leadership as the senior executive position responsible for all nursing and other designated patient care functions and day-to-day operation services within the hospital organization. The role assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice and operations at facility level. The role assumes 24/7 responsibility and has accountability to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care. In addition, the role will promote the facility’s position and image; reflective of the mission, standards and values of the facility, Tenet and the communities served. This position represents nursing concerns on the governing board and at medical staff leadership meetings.

They will have responsibility for day-to-day operations of the facility and related services, ensuring that staff delivers high-quality, cost-effective care and services with a positive margin. This role collaborates with the facility Chief Executive Officer and assumes responsibility for the ongoing effective operation of the department by exerting a leadership role that supports the hospital, mission, vision, goals, and objectives while focusing on the patient, physicians, employees, volunteers, and the community as customers. They are accountable for departments’ direction and coordination.

FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
