Surrounded by stunning bluffs and lying alongside the mighty Mississippi River, La Crosse is home to over 20 miles of beautiful scenic trails. The plant is also located just minutes from the historic downtown which hosts unique shops, lively entertainment, museums, art galleries and more. La Crosse is close to major highways such as I-94 and the approximate distance from the La Crosse Airport is about 7 minutes. POSITION OVERVIEW:The Electrical Engineer works closely with all aspects of the manufacturing process from the raw material to the finished product and support daily productions activities. This is a managerial position, which would include the daily supervision of plant electricians and electronic technicians as well as the management of plant construction, modifications, appropriations, and equipment installation. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting directly to the Plant Engineer, the Electrical Engineer responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:\tApplies electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational electrical machinery, electrical control equipment, and circuitry in industrial plant setting\tOversees assembly and testing of experimental motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, generator windings, and other electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles\tDiagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective action\tDevelops diagrams, drawings and specifications for modifications or expansions and directs personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties\tPlans, directs, and records periodic testing; recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment as needed\tDirects, coordinates, develops, trains, coaches and assesses employees\tSupports and encourages employees to work safely, efficiently, and effectively\tPerforms other job-related duties as required or assignedIn addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:Minimum Requirements\tBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience plus an Associate’s degree\tFive to seven years of experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment\tAt least three years of proven supervisory experience\tWorking knowledge of motor controls, VFD’s, DC drives, Eddy Current Systems and/or Modicon system design\tInstallation, set-up and programming of PLC’s (Allen-Bradley)\tAbility to design, modify and plot using AutoCAD software\tProcess control systems – set-up and program applications (Honeywell)\tInstrumentation and calibration knowledge\tFacility power distribution to include voltage up to 4160v, three-phase\tKnowledge of building facilities (compressed air, water, hydraulics, vacuums, heating and cooling)\tKnowledge of control systems and sub-systems\tMust be available to work various shifts if needed and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional support\tApproximately 10% overnight travelPreferred Requirements\tPackaging industry experience\tElectrical Journeyman’s certification\tGreen or black belt certification in Six SigmaCompetencies\tAbility to work independently or with a team\tStrong problem-solving skills through an individual and/or collaborative approach\tMust be able to look at new solutions and “think outside the box”\tEffective leadership skills such as conflict resolution, communication, decision making, etc.\tDemonstrated employee relations skills and the ability to motivate people\tExcellent time management and project management skills as well as the ability to multi-task\tExcellent oral and written communication skills\tStrong computer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.)Physical Requirements\tWhile performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl\tThe associate may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds\tSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focusWorking Conditions\tGenerally works in a plant environment but will be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office setting\tWhile performing the duties of this job, associate will be exposed to power sources\tWhile performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic\tThe associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures\tThe noise level is frequently loud Possible Equivalent Military Titles\tElectronics Technician; Radar and Sonar Operator; Electronic Instrument and Equipment Repairer; Communications Equipment Operator; Avionics Technician *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.BENEFITS:Crown offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits including FREE company paid health insurance for employees as well as company matched 401(k). INTERESTED: Take the next step in your career and apply online today at www.crowncork.com/careers.EEO/AA/Vets/Disabled
