Store Associate- Part-Time

Store AssociateWe are looking for a Store Associate to provide excellent customer service and meet sales requirements for our thrift stores. The Salvation Army is an equal opportunity employer.Education and Work Experience:High School degree or equivalentRetail or thrift experience preferred but not mandatoryKnowledge of cash handling and cashier procedures, helpfulAbility and willingness to learn new methods to improve skills and proficiencyScope of Position:As part of the thrift store team, you will be tasked with a variety of jobs under the supervision of the Store Manager and/or Supervisor. These jobs may include: receiving donations, sorting, hanging clothes, pricing, stocking sales floor, arranging merchandise in displays, cash register operation, accurate money handling, processing credit cards, helping carry out purchased merchandise. We require good communication with staff-volunteers-customers, all while keeping the store clean and organized with excellent customer service. Must be willing to adhere to uniform, cell phone, break, and smoking policies.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and attention to detailTeam player with a spirit of cooperation and work with all supervisors, staff, volunteers and customers towards achieving store goals set by managementSelf-starter, ability to problem solve or seek assistance when neededStrong use of the English language in verbal and written communicationGood organizational skills to support effective time managementAbility to work with the public in a professional manner that is courteous and respectfulAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressureCustomer service mindsetStrong knowledge of cash controls and cashier procedures including credit card sales, vouchers and ability to operate registers accurately with accountabilityGeneral knowledge of business protocols for safe, efficient operationsAbility and willingness to keep information confidentialAbility to understand and produce written information such as research and donation receiptsMust complete and adhere to Protecting the Mission requirements and guidelines, including the ability to pass a TSA background checkMust perform all other duties as assigned by a Store Manager or Store Supervisor.Physical Requirements:Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basisAbility to stand for prolonged periods of time on a hard floorAbility to continuously grasp, push, pull objects and reach overheadAbility to repetitively lift 35 to 50 lbsAbility to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead for duties such as stocking store shelvesThe Salvation Army will comply with all governmental orders and any contractual obligations relative to COVID-19 safety measures, including mandatory vaccination of staff, if required.
