One of our clients in Jersey City, NJ is urgently looking for a DAS Engineer.



Title: DAS Engineer

Duration: Long-term

Hourly: $65 - $70 per hour (W2)



Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven experience in designing and implementing wireless communications systems.
  • DAS Design: Expertise in in-building DAS design for neutral host wireless cellular systems and public safety systems.
  • Skills: Proficient in DAS provisioning, commissioning, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Installation: Experience with installing fiber optic and coaxial cables.
  • Technology: Up-to-date with newer technologies and equipment.
  • Frequency Bands: Familiar with systems operating in the 800MHz, 400MHz, and cell phone bands.
  • Technical Writing: Strong technical writing skills.



Job Description

  1. Site Surveys: Conduct RF and cabling site surveys to assess installation requirements and design the DAS system.
  2. Design: Create drawings and schematics, and design the DAS network or system as needed.
  3. Installation: Install DAS wireless equipment, including cables, hardware, and antennas.
  4. Testing: Use RF test equipment to test and troubleshoot cables, antennas, and DAS equipment.
  5. Maintenance: Perform preventative repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure system reliability.
  6. Commissioning: Commission and optimize DAS equipment to meet performance standards.
  7. Documentation: Read and interpret design drawings, blueprints, and installation guides; update customer prints and maintain accurate documentation.
  8. Safety: Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.
  9. QA/QC Reporting: Prepare QA/QC reports to ensure compliance with standards.
  10. Training and Mentoring: Assist with training and mentoring junior technicians.



Additional Responsibilities:

  • Affix splitters based on designs.
  • Splice and test fiber using fusion splicing gear.
  • Terminate and test coaxial cables in antenna systems.



Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods.
  • May occasionally need to climb, stoop, kneel, reach, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.



Primary Location: Jersey City, NJ, with additional travel required to various DAS locations in NYC and NJ area.

Travel Schedule: Travel will be as needed to DAS locations.

  • OEMs and Technologies: Familiarity with Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and cellular carrier networks is essential.
