We seek a motivated Test Engineer/Technician for our client in Elmhurst, IL. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an engineering lab environment, conducting various design validation tests. If you are a recent graduate with a BSEET or have 3+ years of experience in a similar lab role, this could be an excellent fit for you


Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and conduct various types of design validation tests, including:
  • RF (Radio Frequency): Open field range, sensitivity, short/long-term frequency stability.
  • Environmental Performance: Testing at extreme temperatures and humidity; experience with environmental test chambers is essential.
  • EMC (Electromagnetic Compliance): Testing for ESD (Electro Static Discharge), EFT (Electrical Fast Transient), surge, and emissions.
  • Design and build basic to moderately complex test setups, including assembling electronic boards and configuring instruments such as data loggers, thermometers, spectrum analyzers, timers, and counters.


Qualifications:

  • Recent graduates (BSEET) with internships and those with 3+ years of experience in design validation testing within an engineering lab are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Product specifications (functional, mechanical, electrical, regulatory compliance, EMC).
  • Test procedures: Ability to interpret and execute tests based on written procedures.
  • Electrical schematics: Ability to read and comprehend schematics for test setup.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Design Engineers to clarify test objectives, address unexpected product behavior, and provide updates.
  • Excellent observational skills to detect and report issues or anomalies during testing.
  • Ability to write accurate and concise test reports.


Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs as part of the role.
