THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Painter, you will perform a full range of journeyman level duties applying paint, wallpaper, or vinyl coverings to a variety of surfaces including walls, partitions, and all types of office furniture at various locations throughout the Capitol Complex. This includes estimating material requirements and supplies, maintaining records of special mixes for future reference, and utilizing the proper tools, equipment, and safety measures at all times, especially when working at heights. Additionally, you will be expected to remove glazing and re-glaze windows.

Our team will rely on your independent judgement to accomplish assigned tasks and seek guidance from the supervisor on unusual situations. You may also lead helpers assisting in various phases of your work. Other responsibilities include shoveling and removing snow and ice from entrances, walk ways, steps, and other areas by using rock salt, sand, or other deicing agents and by operating spreaders and snow blowers. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Essential employee - required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Building Trades Trainee program (commonwealth title); or
  • Three years of experience in the painting trade; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Driver‘s License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
