Job description

The Group Controller will be responsible for overseeing financial statements like balance sheets, invoices, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Their duties include providing standardization and guidance to division controllers, compiling consolidated financial reports based on financial statements and implementing policies and procedures for financial reporting.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Corporate Controller in strategic financial, accounting, and operational projects.
  • Assist the Corporate Controller in organizational learning initiatives.
  • Provide support and alignment to site controllers and different divisions.
  • Audit the proper operation of the Accounting Department, which include inventory transactions and accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
  • Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.
  • Travels as necessary to support systems/metric/control/process implementation at any SSW Facility and perform internal auditing process.
  • Perform month-end closing monitoring activities and reviews maintenance of an accurate general ledger.
  • Demonstrated strength in overall general ledger accounting and reconciliation aptitudes with emphasis on ensuring a clean balance sheet and accurate income statements.
  • Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Appraise, evaluate, and inventory real property and equipment, recording information such as the description, value, and location of property. Involvement in physical inventories and make necessary corrections to general ledger perpetual system.
  • Overseas standardization of accurate standard costing of inventory.
  • Attend team meetings as requested.
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
  • Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
  • Support as a liaison to Financial and Tax auditors and develop working papers for audits.
  • Strong knowledge on US legal and tax compliance, making sure the company is UpToDate in legal and tax matters.
  • Administer company internal control policy and adhere to US GAAP and tax laws.
  • Advise management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
  • Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
  • Maintain or examine the records of government agencies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards. Compute federal taxes owed and prepare tax returns in alignment with tax advisors, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements.
  • Development of control matrices to effectively monitor contractual obligations contained in legal agreements and develop audit to compliance.
  • Be available for extended travel assignments to sister facilities for learning, training and meeting purposes.
  • Responsible for Accounting and Reporting functions as assigned.
  • Assist in rollout and stabilization of ERP solutions.
  • Support in documenting working instructions and guidelines.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, economics, finance, accounting, or a related major or equivalent professional experience is required.
  • Minimum 5 years as a Controller in related manufacturing
  • ERP knowledge (SAP is a plus)
  • Demonstrates excellent financial and quantitative skills.
  • Communicates effectively and has strong presentation skills.
  • Collaborates well with colleagues using adept social skills.
  • Works independently using project management skills.
  • Builds strong working relationships and has exceptional leadership skills.
  • Learns quickly and has strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
