CEI Roadway And Bridge Construction Inspector 4CDM Smith's CEI team in Mississippi (Jackson to Starkville) Natchez Trace Parkway is seeking a candidate to inspect and monitor construction activities at the project site(s). Inspector must be able to perform the most complex inspection activities for at least two of the five categories of construction inspection: roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion & control, maintenance & traffic. Candidate will work under limited supervision or direct supervision depending on the demonstrated knowledge for the assignment. Work will require knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction; knowledge of geometry and basic mathematics; ability to read, interpret and explain construction plans and drawings, contract provisions, and specifications; and communications ability.Minimum qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Certifications from a state highway agency or national entity such as ACI (American Concrete Institute) or NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction in which they will be working.Must possess a valid drivers license.Four years of related experience.Domestic and/or international travel may be required.EEO Statement:CDM Smith is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. In addition, CDM Smith may conduct drug testing for designated positions. Background checks are conducted after an offer of employment has been made in the United States. The timing of when background checks will be conducted on candidates for positions outside the United States will vary based on country statutory law but in no case, will the background check precede an interview. CDM Smith will conduct interviews of qualified individuals prior to requesting a criminal background check, and no job application submitted prior to such interview shall inquire into an applicants criminal history. If this position is subject to a background check for any convictions related to its responsibilities and requirements, employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation including criminal history. Criminal history will not automatically disqualify a candidate. In addition, during employment individuals may be required by CDM Smith or a CDM Smith client to successfully complete additional background checks, including motor vehicle record as well as drug testing.Additional compensation:All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.Work location options:Successful candidate will be required to work 100% in the field locations.Drivers license requirements:An appropriate and valid drivers license is required.Seeking candidates for a potential future opportunity:We are looking for qualified candidates for this position in anticipation of future project opportunities.
