Status: Hourly; Non-Exempt
Position Summary: The Accounting Assistant provides a variety of administrative and clerical work for the Accounting/Finance Department primarily involved with balancing of general ledger accounts, posting journal entries to the general ledger, preparing reports, coordinating and maintaining asset depreciation system with outside accounting firm, and official check reconciliations.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
Gather and organize numerous reports for our financial report package and ALCO.
Prepare numerous reports for our financial report package and ALCO.
Prepare and review numerous general ledger account reconciliations.
Reconcile official checks bank statements (cashier’s checks, loan checks, CD interest checks, money orders, traveler’s checks, etc.) and work with proper bank personnel to correct errors.
Maintain asset depreciation system, posting depreciation journal entries and reconciling to general ledger.
Coordinating asset additions and deletions with our outside accounting firm.
Reviewing all asset purchases to ensure they are coded properly.
Assist accounts payable with tracking certain vendor relationships.
Download bank statements and record service charges and fees.
Perform other duties as may be required or assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent required. Understands Federal, State and Union State banking rules and regulations. Bank related courses strongly recommended.
Specific Skills Required: Ability to communicate, written and verbal, effectively with people both internally and externally. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to identify and resolve problems. Organizational and time management skills. Ability to work with all levels within the organization. Basic computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Able to handle confidential information and positively represent the company.
Competencies: Communication, strategic thinking, teamwork, critical thinking, decision making, and strong collaboration.
System Accesses: Fiserv Precision, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.
Equipment Used: Office equipment which includes computer, multi-line phone system, multi-function unit, etc.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment. Prolonged (90%) sitting and periodic (less than 10% of the time) physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry or push heavy objects or materials weighing up to 50 pounds; Constant and repetitive use of arms and hands below shoulder level for computer usage; This position required the individual to perform normal office activities including, but not limited to, lifting, filing and retrieving, operating office equipment, etc. Travel between locations may be required.
