Credentialing & Certification:

Education Specialist Instruction Credential Deaf & Hard of Hearing or other valid California Special Education Credential authorizing the teaching of hearing-impaired students; and or English Learner authorization CLAD) and a Bachelor' s degree from an accredited college or university.


DHH Educational Specialists Will:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of students' abilities across various domains, tailored to their age and developmental stage.
  • Collaborate with staff and parents to design and execute personalized educational plans, aligning with each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Create structured lesson plans that build upon each other, ensuring a coherent educational journey.
  • Provide a range of suitable learning materials that cater to the diverse needs of the classroom.
  • Foster an engaging learning environment that promotes self-esteem and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of professionals to address the unique requirements of each student.
  • Maintain vigilant supervision to ensure a safe and organized classroom setting.
  • Engage in regular communication with parents to discuss the comprehensive educational approach, individual student needs, progress, and strategies for consistency between home and school environments.
  • Ensure all children have the necessary hearing devices in place and are functioning correctly.
  • Accompany students to audiological assessments to support their auditory health and educational needs.
  • Oversee the contributions of support staff, including paraprofessionals, interpreters, and volunteers, to enhance the learning experience.
