Grounds SupervisorThe Division of Facilities Construction and Management is looking for a leader who loves working outdoors to be our new Grounds Supervisor If you have experience supervising and managing landscaping and grounds maintenance crews, apply todayPrincipal Duties As the Grounds Supervisor, you will:Oversee the care of plants in gardens, lawns, and other green areas.Oversee the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas.Oversee the removal of trash and snow.Apply pesticides and fertilizers.Ensure proper pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs.Oversee, maintain, and repair irrigation systems, including scheduling watering times, adjusting coverage, and ensuring efficient water use.Troubleshoot leaks, breaks, and controller issues and ensure systems meet seasonal needs and conservation requirements.Train others in the principles and techniques used in landscaping and grounds maintenance.Train others in adherence to industry and/or safety standards.Train others in the maintenance of related equipment, tools, and/or supplies.Supervise subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.Minimum Qualifications The best qualified candidate will have:at least 3 years of landscaping and grounds care.at least 3 years of designing and maintaining irrigation systems.at least 3 years of supervising grounds crews.Preferred QualificationsApplicants with a Utah Pesticide Applicator's license are preferred. If the selected applicant does not have this license, they will be expected to earn one within 6 months of hire.Additional preference will be given to applicants with one of the following certifications/designations:Arborist certificationQualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL) certificationMaster Gardner certificationWatershed Wise Landscape Professional (WWLP) certificationCLCA Water Management certificationPreference may be given to current DFCM employees who meet the minimum qualifications.Why You Should Join Our Team What's better than working outside in the sun and fresh air?
