About this Position: 

The Unit Manager is responsible for the management of an assigned unit in order to meet safety, quality, delivery, production schedules, quality and cost objectives. Development of the workforce, including performance ratings. Follow up on unit’s performance and set direction for areas of concern. Confirm PDCA and activity for unit level projects. Responsible for reporting and communication for the unit. Define strategy to achieve the company’s output objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work in conjunction with team members to develop and implement plans to improve the overall unit efficiency based upon data collection and analysis of actual conditions
  • Investigate, propose, and assign activities, which will improve overall profitability of unit operations as it relates to SEQDCM
  • Perform gap analysis of business plan objectives on current plant conditions (SEQDCM) in order to develop unit level themes for enhancements
  • Define, lead, and manage the overall strategy to implement the Department’s Business Plan for all aspects – Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Manpower/Moral, New Model, Process and Equipment
  • Define, lead, and manage the overall expense strategy for the Unit, including resource management and investments
  • Define, lead, and manage all Career planning and growth of associates in unit
  • Lead and demonstrate Honda Philosophy and Business Practices
  • Lead studies to determine unit impacts of new technologies, production volume and model changes etc.
  • Coordinate changes required to meet future production needs and business direction changes

Who we are seeking:

Required Work Experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, based on education

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent related experience

Desired skills:

  • Production background ideally in 2 or more production departments or plants
  • New Model development experience
  • Equipment and process background

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment and floor requirement for production follow up / interaction
  • 10-15 Hours OT per week
  • Potential for overseas and domestic travel
