Sr Business Functional Consultant, Transformation - Revenue Accounting (Billing & Invoicing)The Sr Business Functional Consultant (Revenue Calculation - Billing & Invoicing) serves as a strategic business partner within the Business Area, providing subject matter expertise, operational insights, and process recommendations to support the overall business readiness and successful delivery of Customer Information System (CIS) program. The Sr Business Functional Consultant leads moderately complex business process design and integration efforts across transformation or major project initiatives. Operating with independence, the role engages cross-functional partners, assesses upstream/downstream impacts, and translates business needs into actionable future state recommendations. The Sr Business Functional Consultant ensures functional alignment, facilitates communication across teams, and drives readiness activities that promote sustainable adoption and operational continuity. Focused on non-technical domains, the role bridges current state operations with future state capabilities by representing functional needs, identifying gaps, and ensuring sustainable change through collaboration, communication and stakeholder engagement. Specific to Revenue Calculation, the role ensures accurate and compliant calculation of utility revenues across multiple state jurisdictions by interpreting regulatory requirements, configuring CIS billing rules and validating complex rate structures.Essential Responsibilities:Translate jurisdiction specific regulatory tariffs and rate cases into system requirements and billing calculation logic within the platformPerform end-to-end validation and reconciliation of revenue calculations to ensure accuracy, compliance and audit readiness within the state jurisdictionPartner with Finance, Regulatory and Customer Ops team to align revenue recognition processes with state specific compliance standards and internal controlsAct as SME during transformation, supporting system configuration, testing and defect resolution related to billing and invoicing calculationsServe as a trusted advisor for business functional teams by providing advanced subject matter expertise across multiple business processesLead program activities such as business process design, requirements mapping, operational planning and functional impact assessmentsIndependently identify, assess and communicate operational impacts of proposed changes, escalating risks or misalignments as needed and resolveLead business functional testing cycles, partner with training team to shape content design and guide user adoption strategies to ensure readinessCollaborate across business functional areas to ensure integrated end-to-end process continuity and alignment with customer experience outcomesChampion continuous improvement by analyzing pain points and synthesizing insights into actionable recommendationsDefine functional performance metrics, reporting needs and post implementation success criteria for assigned domainsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in business or related field; or equivalent combination of training and relevant experience.Strong understanding of utility processes and performance drivers.Excellent communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.5+ years in operations, business process improvement or service delivery.Preferred Qualifications:Experience supporting business readiness or change initiatives with a focus on operational execution.As a leading combination electricity and natural gas energy company, Xcel Energy offers a comprehensive portfolio of energy-related products and services to 3.4 million electricity and 1.9 million natural gas customers across eight Western and Midwestern states.
