Job Summary and Responsibilities The Psychiatrist - Child and Adolescent provides community-based psychiatric services to children and families in the Lancaster Community. The position serves as the team lead for multi-disciplinary care teams dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the child (patient) and their family. Services include psychiatric evaluation, assessment and medication management. In addition to direct service to the child and family, the psychiatrist is responsible for on-going treatment plan monitoring for children accessing the program to assure appropriateness of treatment strategies and patient progress. The behavioral health services provided by the team and coordinated by the Psychiatrist strive to improve the child’s mental well-being and social functioning. Key Relationships / Responsibilities Care Team Members (Therapists, Family Wellness Coaches and Case Managers) Collaborating providers (External providers also serving patients) Behavioral Health Operations, Family Services and Therapy Leadership Continuum of Care Clinical Standards and Quality Reports to: President - CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health Job Requirements Responsibilities Performs psychiatric evaluations and assessments Develops and monitors treatment plans. Prescribes and monitors psychiatric medications, as needed Collaborates with therapists, family coaches and Nurse Practitioners to implement a comprehensive goal and service plan for the child and family. Coordinates services with primary care physicians and facilitates appropriate medication monitoring and adherence post discharge, if needed. Provides psychiatric consultations and medical supervision. Performs psychiatric reviews of charts and treatment plans and approves treatment plans pursuant to Medicaid regulations and department policy and procedures. Serves as the collaborating physician for Nurse Practitioners at CHI St. Joseph Children's Health. Participates in planning and administrative decisions affecting program’s treatment approaches, technology, and quality of care. Completes timely and appropriate documentation in the electronic medical records for clients. Maintains compliance with regard to state, federal and CHI guidelines. Education (including licenses, certifications): MD/DO from an accredited medical school/university plus the successful completion of a residency program in psychiatry. Board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry Licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Prescriptive privileges – DEA Controlled Substances. Experience required and preferred: Minimum of 3-years experience, working with children and families, preferred. Bi-Lingual (Spanish) strongly preferred. Knowledge of Evidence-based best practices, trauma informed therapy and client-centered treatment. Skill Competencies: Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal Ability to handle multiple tasks Comfort working with computers and with utilizing tele-psych technology Demonstrate a high comfort working with diverse populations and an understanding of the cultural and social barriers that can exist when accessing health or health-related care. Promote a positive team-based approach to treatment and care.
