We take pride in our diverse workforce and the collaborative spirit that drives our team to deliver exceptional patient care and customer service every day.Position Summary Reporting to the Vice President, General Counsel, this role assists with day‑to‑day operations of the legal department. The assistant general counsel plans, organizes, and manages risk, handles professional/general liability coverages, oversees litigation and claims activities, and provides general legal services including contract review and drafting.Key ResponsibilitiesProvides comprehensive general legal services including contract review, drafting/preparing legal documents, and legal advice, and reviews legal aspects of administrative policies.Consults with and advises the Vice President, General Counsel on the operation of the Legal Department and recommends changes in policy, facilities, equipment, and programs to achieve the Hospital's objectives.Works with risk management and loss prevention programs, researches and reports on the most cost‑effective plans to minimize asset liability, and acts as the liaison to attorneys, insurance companies and individuals, investigating any incidences that may result in asset loss. Reviews and analyzes risk‑management programs for effectiveness of coverage and to reduce costs and losses.Prepares a variety of administrative reports for the General Counsel relative to patient statistics, costs, workforce utilization, safety, and statistical records required by licensing authorities, accrediting bodies, and/or by sound business practice.Participates in the credentialing and privileging activities by medical‑staff office, ensures compliance/updates of Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations, and assists in resolution of issues involving medical‑staff members, residents and medical students.In conjunction with the General Counsel, maintains effectiveness of the Corporate Responsibility Program, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, Stark Self‑Referral Law, Anti‑Kickback Statute, Hospital Licensing Act, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and TJC; serves as a member of and/or leads a variety of Hospital committees.Responsible for claims and litigation administration of the various self‑insurance trusts as well as commercial insurance for protecting the assets of the organization.Performs both essential and marginal job functions safely as identified by Saint Anthony Hospital and the respective department while adhering to the Hospital’s confidentiality norms and standards, and actively demonstrates the core values of Saint Anthony Hospital in all interactions with others.Assumes responsibility for knowing and maintaining established hospital and departmental objectives, policies/procedures, including general sanitation, safety, environmental and infection control standards.Participates in performance activities including problem identification, data collection, solution selection, implementation and evaluation, and assists in the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies as appropriate.Participates in staff meetings and other in‑services, meetings or committees as required.Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reviewing current literature, in‑service meetings, and conferences for self and for staff.QualificationsFour to ten years of experience as an Assistant General Counsel.Degree from an accredited law program.Experience in healthcare and/or labor law a plus.Ability to work on‑site.Full vaccination against Covid‑19 required.Work Conditions Hospital office environment.Compensation $101,900–$152,500 per year.Seniority LevelMid‑Senior levelEmployment TypeFull‑timeJob FunctionLegal#J-18808-Ljbffr
