Great business stories are hard to find, and they don’t tell themselves. That’s where you come in. Digiday Media’s in-house content team, Custom, is looking for an industrious, sharp, and creative head of production who will help us propose and produce modern, meaningful content for our B2B clients both on and off the Digiday Media platforms (Digiday.com, Glossy.co, ModernRetail.co, and WorkLife.news). 


You’ll be in the driver’s seat of a small production team tasked with bringing a diversity of content types to life, from reported stories, profiles, and explainers to podcast stories, research reports, videos, other social formats, and more, all focused on illuminating the trends, behaviors and culture shaping business today. You’ll also support the sales team with new ideas and strategic thinking to produce truly integrated proposals across our content, media, and events offerings. 


The successful candidate will bring extremely strong production and management experience and intuition in addition to original, creative thinking to each new endeavor. 


What we look for:


  • The ability to manage a team to produce content campaigns to deadline and exceeding quality expectations. 
  • The vision for seeing the signal through the noise to make interviews, research and client solutions tell a story
  • The talent for thinking in metaphors and visuals to produce creative ideas.
  • Working experience with audio and video content production.
  • The discipline to own and produce longform writing projects (e.g. custom guides on esoteric tech topics) 
  • Strong writing and creative, original thinking.
  • Ability to successfully juggle multiple projects.
  • Ability to present confidently to both internal teams and clients.
  • A fluency in the modern media ecosystem – from websites and email to social, messaging, and beyond – and the instincts to deploy content campaigns across it.
  • An understanding of advertising and marketing technology.


How you’ll be spending your time:


  • Managing in-house producers and freelancers and working with our design team to complete client projects on time and under budget. 
  • Planning and producing podcasts, videos and more that touch on the above subjects.
  • Leading internal (and occasionally external) strategy and story meetings and brainstorm sessions.
  • Building ideal content/events plans around the resulting ideas, including articles, in-depth reports, video, social formats, and event integrations and installations and more. 
  • Joining sales meetings to pitch when creative or strategic firepower is needed.
  • Editing and fact checking producers’ work. 
  • Guiding and mentoring individual producers to help them grow and improve. 
  • As needed, personally writing outlines or long-form copy (e.g. articles, reports) for client projects on topics ranging from digital media, marketing and retail technology to the future of work.
