POSITION SUMMARY:

The EG Project Manager will be responsible in facilitating development activities for VAALCO’s Block P asset in Equatorial Guinea. Therefore, the ability to advance a greenfield discovery into development stage is essential for the successful candidate. The EG Project Manager will work with Production Engineering, Drilling, Facility Engineering, and necessary external consultants to monetize assets. This is a full-time contract-to-hire position


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works as Coordinator across multi-discipline Commercial, Legal, Drilling, Facilities and Subsurface Teams for the execution of the Plan of Development with partners and government entities.
  • Interacts with host government officials, partner technical staff as required.
  • Represents the project to Senior Management
  • Uses sound understanding of risk analysis of projects with an emphasis on risk reduction and return on investment.
  • Facilities project meetings and manages all major interfaces.
  • Responsible for ensuring the project is sufficiently resourced and meets schedule objectives.


EDUCATION & REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or related Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in upstream roles with large or medium-size oil and gas companies.
  • Minimum 12 years of project experience in Development and/or Production experience, mainly with conventional reservoirs.
  • Broad, international experience, with West Africa experience preferred.
  • Experience working on successful teams and ability to interact and work effectively with cross-functional teams, working interest partners and potential partners.
  • Exposure to multiple geographical areas and experience working in a multi-cultural, multi-national environment.
  • Working knowledge of conducting Resource and Reserve estimates
  • Solid understanding of industry economics, discounted cash flow modeling, costs, profitability analysis, fiscal systems, and financial drivers
  • Fluent in Spanish is a plus.


SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Deep expertise in commercial and economic analysis.
  • Proven team builder with Project Management and leadership skills
  • Decision analysis experience
  • Experience in delivering project plans using multidiscipline teams.
  • Must have experience working in West Africa preferably offshore Equatorial Guinea
  • Ability to implement solutions that meet the Field Development Plan objectives for reservoir depletion.
  • Must have a working knowledge of related disciplines, e.g., geophysics, petrophysics, facilities and well engineering, production engineering.
  • Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to multitask and to prioritize work accordingly.
  • Ability to distill thoughts and ideas into a concise written or oral presentation to senior management.
  • Ability to prepare and present material to key stakeholders.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to other continents, sometimes at short notice.
  • High aptitude / ability to handle complexity and ambiguity.
  • Positive attitude not easily discouraged.
  • Leadership capabilities, including unquestionable integrity and trustworthiness.
  • Proven track record of delivering under challenging conditions.
