By joining Ames, you will be working with talented colleagues at an award-winning, nationally recognized top general contractor.Ames Construction is seeking an experienced Trucking Superintendent with over 10 years of heavy civil construction experience, including 5+ years in supervisory roles. This role will oversee trucking and material hauling activities on multiple projects, including an internal fleet of trucks and drivers and coordinating with material hauling subcontractors and vendors for additional support. The ideal candidate has a strong commitment to safety, quality, and workforce development, and has a proven ability to lead and mentor field teams of 20+ personnel in demanding environments. This role requires deep knowledge of heavy civil and mining construction practices, DOT/FMCSA regulations, cost control, planning, scheduling, and execution of work plans. The candidate must be skilled in coordinating with engineers, safety professionals, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain project progress and ensure compliance with specifications and contractual obligations. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to proactively resolve field challenges are essential.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstill safety as the highest priority across all field activities.Hire, train, develop, and mentor trucking personnel, ensuring strong crew performance.Maintain open and effective communication with project teams.Monitor project schedules and coordinate trucking support sequencing to maintain production goals.Assist in developing and executing work plans, personnel projections, material and equipment needs, and daily/weekly scheduling of trucking support for multiple projects.Identify potential problems, interferences, or schedule delays and collaborate with project management to develop solutions.Lead a disciplined team, delegate responsibilities effectively, and set clear goals to achieve high-quality performance aligned with company expectations and client requirements.Perform additional duties as assigned.QualificationsMinimum of 10 years of experience in heavy civil and/or mining construction with oversight of trucking activities preferred.Five or more years in a supervisory role (Superintendent, General Foreman, Foreman).Strong knowledge of mass earthwork, mine infrastructure construction, heavy equipment operations, material hauling and civil construction methods.Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA, Federal, State and Local laws with regards to driver and truck safety compliance.Experience leading and managing crews of 20 or more employees and subcontractors.Understanding cost management, production tracking, planning, and scheduling.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct...Ames Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
