Role Description

The Mortgage Underwriter position is a full-time hybrid role, located in The Woodlands, TX, with flexibility for some remote work. The Mortgage Underwriter will be responsible for creating and reviewing loan files, underwriting mortgage loans to ensure compliance with company and investor guidelines, and escalating issues to the appropriate team members. The Mortgage Underwriter will also be responsible for communicating decision and stipulations to processors and loan officers.

Qualifications

• Mortgage Industry and Underwriting experience
• Current SAR and DE required
• Analytical Skills and ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
• Experience with Mortgages and loan regulations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Detail-oriented and highly organized, with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor's degree in Business, finance, or related field preferred

Additional skills and qualifications that would be beneficial include knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC guidelines, experience with automated underwriting systems, and certification as a mortgage underwriter or similar designation.
