Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Kaizen Expert to join our automotive manufacturing team in North Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will be responsible for improving process throughput, eliminating waste, and rebalancing work. The Kaizen Expert will also focus on reducing transportation through layout redesign, developing Value Stream Maps to identify process improvement opportunities, and enhancing inventory and delivery systems by implementing Kanban. Additionally, the role includes optimizing transportation routes with standard work procedures and implementing level loading/heijunka.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement in process throughput and waste elimination.
  • Conduct 3P (Production Preparation Process) Kaizen events to redesign plant layouts and reduce transportation waste.
  • Develop and maintain Value Stream Maps to identify and prioritize process improvement opportunities.
  • Implement Kanban systems to improve inventory management and delivery processes.
  • Optimize material delivery routes by establishing and maintaining standard work procedures.
  • Implement level loading/heijunka to ensure smooth production flow and balanced workloads.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of improvement activities.
  • Provide training and support to team members on lean manufacturing principles and practices.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.
  • Proven experience in leading and facilitating Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices, including 3P, Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, and Heijunka.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze data to drive decision-making.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members at all levels.
  • Proficiency in using lean manufacturing tools and software.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or related discipline is preferred.
