Offering an unmatched, 360-degree solution set for a collection of world-class owned venues and a client roster that includes the most influential, highest attended arenas, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions on the planet.Position SummaryIn consultation with the Assistant General Manager, the Director of Venue Operations manages, supervises, and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the arena including but not limited to maintenance, set-up/changeovers, custodial/housekeeping, security, landscaping/grounds keeping, equipment safety and capital projects. This employee also provides overall administrative planning, direction, and policies to operating managers and supervisors, vendors and technicians, assuring the highest quality service program to reinforce booking and rebooking of events. The Director of Operations ensures an effective and cost-efficient program by controlling departmental operating budget while providing highly responsible staff assistance to the Assistant General Manager.This role will pay between $85,000-$95,000 and is bonus eligible.Benefits for full-time roles: Health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) savings plan, 401(k) matching, and paid time off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays).This position will remain open until August 15, 2025.About the VenueSantander Arena, located in downtown Reading, Pennsylvania, is a versatile venue that serves as the home arena for the Reading Royals, the ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. The Santander Arena has hosted an array of live events including concerts, Disney on Ice, and other family-friendly events attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.ResponsibilitiesOversees overall daily operation and maintenance of the facility and all systemsThis includes HVAC, sound, electrical, plumbing, venue security, fire protection, life safety, workplace safety, communications, landscaping, pest control, waste management, custodial services, etcParticipate in the development and administration of the facility's operations and capital budgets; forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments as necessaryOversees the advancing and communicating of event information to the appropriate departments and staffOversees the operation of event set-up and tear-down, i.e. conversions, stage risers, chairs, signs, tables, linens, etcActs as liaison with community partners for all facility related functions (City Codes, Parking, Licenses, permits, inspections, warranties, etc)Select, train, motivate and evaluate staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination proceduresResponsible for Health & Safety complianceDevelop and update comprehensive management reports and manuals (i.e. Operations Manual, Annual Preventative Maintenance Plan, Annual Facility Report, Emergency Procedures, Fire Code Rules & Regulations, etc)Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer serviceConduct a variety of organizational and operational studies; recommend modifications to programs, policies, and procedures as appropriateTrack and log all preventative maintenance itemsEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, facility stakeholders and facility usersDirect and monitor the work of contractors, engineers and architects on building projectsMaintain hazardous materials communication program, and material safety data sheets; maintain knowledge of changes in pertinent Federal, State and Local regulationsAll other duties as assigned by the General ManagerQualificationsB.S. or B.A. degree from an accredited college/university5 years experience in facility operations managementMust show demonstrated knowledge of facilities venue management, supervisory skills and experience in work crew supervision in facility operationsAbility to work event nights, weekends and holidays as requiredKnowledge of budget preparation and controlKnowledge of OSHA requirementsKnowledge of boilers, chillers, refrigeration and ice makingKnowledge of fire alarm / fire protection systemsKnowledge of event production and audio visual productionProficient operating in Microsoft Office applications including: Excel, Word, OutlookAbility to supervise and develop the work of othersAbility to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focus on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environmentAbility to speak, read and write in EnglishAbility to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environmentWorking knowledge of equipment safety, facility maintenance and housekeepingExcellent customer service skillsStrengthened by Our Differences.
