Deutsche is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Estimator to join our team. We are unique in that we provide an in-house project costing program, project scheduling, along with project management. We believe putting our client needs, and providing the best solution for our customer above all else.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Works directly with our sales team, service team, and project management.
  • Analyze projects specifications, drawings, and blueprints to prepare accurate cost estimates for piping systems.
  • Review and interpret engineered drawings, isometrics, and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to quantify materials, labor, and equipment necessary for piping installations..
  • Collaborate with the project managers, engineers, and vendors to gather the necessary information and ensure estimate accuracy.
  • Conduct material take-offs and sourcing to determine cost-effective solutions while meeting project specifications.
  • Calculate labor hours, equipment rental, and subcontractor costs to develop comprehensive project bids.
  • Prepared detailed estimates, proposals, and bid packages in a timely manner, adhering to project deadlines.
  • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to optimize project budget and maximize profitability.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, pricing, and market fluctuations to provide competitive estimates.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and clients
  • Document and maintain records of estimates, assumptions, and project correspondences.
  • Continued contact with active projects and estimating necessary change orders as requested from the service group, PM group, or customers.

Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical background with expertise in piping systems and installations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineered drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines, and a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of field installation practices and construction methods is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills to identify potential project challenges and propose viable solutions.
  • Prior experience in piping estimation or a related field is highly desirable.
