  • Make an Impact The Integration Engineer is responsible for developing interfaces using the appropriate standard or protocol (such as: HL7, CCD, XML, X12, SFTP, HTTPS, FHIR, web services, API, or other interoperability standards and protocols) according to the documented specifications. Codes interface logic using programming and scripting languages that lead to efficient use of the resources provided and meets customers’ needs while adhering to quality standards. Effectively uses interface systems (such as: Epic Bridges, Cerner OPENLink, Capsule, GE Carescape, Philips Intellibridge) to meet the health system needs. The engineer will be required to maintain Epic certification for the application(s) they support. The position will require strong communication and analytical skills to interpret appropriate clinical and non-clinical requests. The engineer will review and implement new application features for upgrades and apply special update packages, along with enhancement requests and ticket resolution.

Essential Accountabilities

  • Integrates, builds, and supports organization-wide systems, applications, and interfaces.
  • Design, configuration, testing, implementation, and support of Epic interfaces.
  • Design, configuration, testing, implementation, and support of Medical Device Integration.
  • Design documentation (Interface Business Requirements)
  • Interface configuration (and associated documentation)
  • Test script development and participation in testing efforts
  • Interface testing cycles
  • Interface error log resolution
  • Advises and directs others on application of system integration principles to support business goals.
  • Managing the entire cycle of interface application development, including analysis, design, specification, implementation, go-live, and support.
  • Providing proactive support by monitoring live interfaces.
  • Identify and navigate potential issues to meet deadlines and schedules.
  • Coordinate activities involving multiple players, including vendors, subject matter experts, and end users, to design, configure, and test interfaces.
  • Understand customer requirements and their impact on the technical aspects of a solution.
  • Develop, support, and maintain documentation and procedures as needed.
  • Collaborate with other IT engineers and vendors to identify system optimization and enhancements to design and implement effective solutions.
  • Travel to various locations, including occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Contribute to preparation of testing scripts and materials and perform unit, system, and integrated testing tasks.
  • Work closely with end users to identify business needs and the cost and benefits of implementing a solution. Log, track, analyze, resolve issues, and coordinate system changes in ServiceNow.
  • Complete project tasks within timeline as assigned. Champion the project, provide support in the ongoing implementations, optimizations, and upgrades.
  • Participates in on-call rotation.


Professional Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years recent healthcare information systems or clinical management systems experience.
  • Epic experience preferred.
  • 2 years of Epic Bridges Interface experience preferred.
  • Experience with Cerner OPENLink Integration Engine or other Integration Engine preferred.
  • Experience with FTP/SFTP preferably using GoAnyWhere Managed File Transfer Solution preferred.
  • Interface experience, including development, testing, implementation, and support.
  • Experience with Medical Device Integration highly preferred.


Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.


Certifications

Current Epic Bridges Certification or must be willing to travel to Verona, Wisconsin for training and achieve certification within 90 days of completed testing. All certifications must be actively maintained with New Version Training Certificates (NVT).
