Unissant is seeking a Full Stack Developer to maintain and extend an existing enterprise JEE application supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Qualified applicants may be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information. Must have a current CBP BI clearance or be eligible to obtain one. Must be a U.S. Citizen. This is a highly technical position; individuals will be screened by peers in a technical review of skills and experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement JEE software applications.
  • Use modern software engineering tools and methodologies including Eclipse, and Atlassian Products (Jira, Confluence)
  • Work with users in an Agile development approach to understand requirements, then elicit feedback and refine solution through demonstrations.
  • Present the solution at formal and informal design reviews and document the design according to the Government's system lifecycle methodology.

Work Experience:

  • Strong Java J2EE/JEE design and software development experience including designing, programming, and documenting large-scale software systems.

Demonstrated proficiency with Design Patterns and Data Structures

Experience maintaining existing JEE applications deployed in WebSphere Application Server environment or related JEE server

JEE Components include:

Struts 2.0/Servlets/JSP

EJB experience

DAO/ORM framework experience (JPA/Hibernate/JDBC)

Experience with RDBMS/SQL (Oracle/Postgres)

Front End Experience with: HTML, JavaScript, CSS.

Understanding of message Queues and Topics (MQ, Kafka)

Experience with different data formats (XML, JSON, YAML)

  • Experience with developing and using scripting (SQL, Java, Unix/Linux)

Experience using CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Maven, Git)


Job Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience using technologies such as:

Java/Springboot/Microservices

Angular

Knowledge and experience understanding message Queues and Topic (MQ, Kafka)

  • Ability to multitask efficiently and progressively and work comfortably in an ever-changing data environment.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressured, tight deadline environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field with applicable experience is required. Applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Certification, Licenses and Registrations:

  • This federal program requires the candidates to be a United States Citizen
  • Must have a current CBP BI clearance or be eligible to obtain one.

Communication Skills:

  • Solid ability to interface, inspire and motivate at various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.
  • Must work well in a matrixed team environment.

Travel:

  • Willing to travel occasionally as needed (up to 10%)

Environmental Requirements:

  • Mainly sedentary; in an office environment
  • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds
  • Flexible in working extended hours.
