While we are open to locations nationwide, you will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents. This role will require you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and brokers and be in the office/market three days per week. The ideal candidate will have a background in Excess Casualty and/or Construction. This role will be filled at either an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant's experience and skillset relative to the qualifications listed for this position.What you can expect in a Market Facing Underwriting position at Zurich:Develop and maintain relationships with broker partners and customers in the Construction industry in support of business objectivesLeverage your casualty underwriting acumen across risk assessment, exposure evaluation, and pricing to generate and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal businessWork collaboratively across business units including but not limited to; claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting while gaining extensive knowledge in a growing and innovative industryBe empowered to use your market facing, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to grow and develop relationships with preferred distribution partners in an assigned territoryIn this role you will be responsible for:Underwriting and pricing a solid renewal bookIdentifying and analyzing new growth opportunitiesEnsuring that accounts are qualified, meet with the organization's appetite and are balanced with sound business opportunityMaking agent/broker/customer and on-sight calls with a planned and well-prepared purposeOverseeing negotiations of Terms & Conditions and closing dealsEnsuring cross-sell within areas of responsibility to increase product density with the Zurich customerUnderwriting Specialist Basic Qualifications:High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
