Certified Medical Assistant I Or II - Primary Care Of EdmondThe Medical Support Assistant works alongside Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers to provide direct patient care according to state and federal guidelines. This position plays an important role in the ambulatory setting by not only performing clinical and administrative duties but also helping patients feel at ease and understanding provider instructions.Essential ResponsibilitiesProvides direct patient care by taking vitals, patient history, referrals, and patient phone messages under direct supervision of the provider and/or clinical supervisorAdheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requiresContributes to the assessment/re-assessment of patientsMonitors and documents patient statusManages large call volume while maintaining excellent telephone etiquetteOrganizes workflow to meet patient needs in a timely mannerMay retrieve and transport instruments and supplies.Moderate exposure to hazardous risks, including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, chemicalsMust follow standard precautionsResponsible for stocking exam rooms, taking inventory, and ordering supplies.Makes scheduling arrangements with other healthcare professionals and facilities.Assists with procedures. Maintaining sterile field and specimen labeling when necessary.Gathers and documents information about patient condition, which include lab values, pain levels, patient education needs, nutritional status and potential complicationsPerforms cleaning, sterilization and/or high-level disinfection of scopes, probe, instruments and equipment according to manufacturer instructions for usePerforms other duties as assignedMinimum Requirements Certified Medical Assistant I:Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred.Experience: 0-3 years of experience in Patient Care as a Medical Assistant or similar patient care role preferred.License/Certification/Registration: Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.Additionally, one of the following certifications are required upon hire:Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologists (AMT)Registered Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical PersonnelRegistered Medical Assistant - American Allied HealthCertified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - National HealthCareer AssociationNational Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant - National Association for Health ProfessionalsMinimum Requirements Certified Medical Assistant II:Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
