Job Duties
- Prepare cost estimates for projects, products, and services by researching prices for materials, labor, transport, and equipment.
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Obtain quotes from vendors and subcontractors to meet bid deadlines.
- Assess project risks and present findings to senior estimators.
- Prepare and submit detailed cost quotations for work.
- Assist with bids for new contracts and support procurement activities.
- Monitor project costs to ensure alignment with the initial estimates.
Estimator Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and budgets.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, or estimating software.
- Competence in reading architectural plans and developing cost estimates.
- Strong time management and multitasking skills.
- In-depth understanding of pavement preservation and horizontal construction processes.
- Experience with job order contracting and alternative delivery methods is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to accept and act on constructive criticism.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Civil Engineering preferred.
- 2-5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with B2W software preferred.
