About the Opportunity

This is an open position with Ohio Edison Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [OEPP]
Location: Warren, OH

Duties:
Under general directive supervision of the Garage Foreman or Supervisor, an employee in this position is expected to direct and work with employees engaged in maintenance and repair work on motor vehicles, automotive equipment, power tools, including special and auxiliary equipment, Representative duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Directs, supervises, and works with
• employees engaged in maintenance and repair work, and testing on motor vehicles and automotive equipment, hydraulic, and power-operated equipment,
2. Directs schedules, and supervises work, assists in developing improvements in garage methods, maintenance testing procedures and operating practices,
3. Reports abnormal and problem conditions that develop during the progress of the work to higher level supervision,
4. Takes all necessary measures to protect and safeguard the public, employees and equipment,
5. Assigns employees duties appropriate to their job classifications,
6. Directs, supervises, and assists with the work, inspection and tests
of equipment upon completion of the work,
7. Inspects dismantled equipment and determines parts to be replaced and repaired,
8. Makes required reports, schedules, and records of inspections, maintenance, repair work, time, materials, and other items, originates requisitions, arranges for purchases of material and parts as required.
9. Directs, supervises, and trains employees assigned,
10. Performs the duties of Equipment Mechanic-A,
11. Performs other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:
Must have acquired satisfactory knowledge of the duties of an Equipment Mechanic-A and, the following additional knowledges and skills:
1. Thorough knowledge of the methods and practices of the Garage Section.
2. Thorough knowledge of new developments and advances in automotive equipment and other equipment and the repair practices and procedures for such equipment,
3. Thorough knowledge to operate, teach, and instruct in the operation and capacities of all equipment, including wreckers.
4. Thorough knowledge of the theory and operation of all the component units and parts for all types of automotive equipment and other equipment and of various shop testing equipment,
5. Skill to direct others and to receive and pass on orders and instructions in a manner that will maintain harmony and safety, and obtain cooperation and satisfactory work results from employees assigned to the work.
6. Skill to make clear, concise, accurate reports and to keep records, and to properly receive and quickly and correctly interpret orders, and to read and scale to size manufacturer's prints and schematics of equipment,
7. Thorough knowledge of the principles of operation and proper application of the safety and fire fighting equipment installed on the properties to which assigned, and the safety, first aid and resuscitation practices prescribed by the Company,
8. Possess a valid State Driver's License and pass the Company's drivers test.
9. Willingness to acquire additional knowledges and skills required for performance of the duties of this position through attendance at specified training classes or other means.
