JOB SUMMARY

The Coordinator Radiology Orthopedic Surgical Services HSS demonstrates competence in Orthopedic Surgical Services and Diagnostic Radiology. Scheduling and assigning staff work assignments to coordinate orthopedic surgical operations and clinical orthopedic imaging. Observe staff activities, set expectations, train, coach, and counsel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

– Other duties may be assigned.

· Manage and oversee all daily radiological operations in surgical services, including HSS OR, HSS at NCH Orthopedic Clinic, and Ortho Now Urgent Care.

· Demonstrate a broad understanding of surgical procedures in Orthopedics.

· Safely and effectively operate a C-arm, save images, upload patient data, and successfully send and order cases.

· Independently troubleshoot, address, and resolve any situations or concerns that arise in surgical services

· Demonstrate critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

· Apply surgical knowledge and provide optimal images to assist the surgeon appropriately during surgical procedures.

· Communicate effectively with operating room staff and surgeons to provide the necessary imaging equipment needed for surgical procedures.

· Perform routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures and report any defects or problems directly to clinical engineering for quick resolution.

· Make recommendations to the Radiology Director and/or Manager regarding Radiology OR equipment upgrades or replacement.

· Act as a radiology consultant to the OR and provides guidance regarding proper patient positioning and OR bed orientation to deliver the best radiologic imaging results possible.

· Demonstrates competency in fluoroscopy during surgical procedures following state and federal radiation protection policies.

· Operate and assist the surgeon in complex procedures when utilizing Stealth guided computed tomography

· Access PACS and retrieve CT, MRI, and X-Ray imaging upon surgeon request.

· Closely monitor other radiology staff members assigned to Orthopedic duties to ensure exams are performed safely and with excellent clinical outcomes.

· Manage and order sterile supplies needed for surgical cases.

· Provide orientation, in-service training, and continuing education of all radiology personnel in Orthopedics on new equipment and procedures in the OR suites.

· Must participate with in-service training as needed and stay current with emerging methods and advancements in radiography and imaging procedures. To take an active role in ongoing professional development

· Interpret the surgical schedule daily and coordinate radiology staffing accordingly dependent on the needs of the operating room.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

· High School or GED required.

· Graduate of an approved program for Radiologic Technology.

· Licensed as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in the State of Florida.

· ARRT registered in Radiology.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Radiographer.

· Basic Life Support (BLS Provider) certification required with American Heart Association.

· Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
