Name of position: Data Scientist/Engineer Location: Gaithersburg MD client: National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)Job Overview: The Data Scientist/Engineer will work closely with the biological science teams at NIST to enhance the metadata schema and ensure that the image processing pipeline captures all required data for reproducibility and analysis. This role will be responsible for developing the data structures and systems necessary for long-term analysis of image data.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, image processing, and data schema development.Proficiency in NoSQL databases (MongoDB) and data manipulation tools.Experience with metadata capture and organizing large datasets.Familiarity with JSON and other data formats.Key Responsibilities:Work with biologists and researchers to define metadata capture requirements.Enhance and organize the metadata schema to ensure data is captured properly.Develop data structures for storing and retrieving image metadata for analysis.Provide tools and interfaces for managing and interacting with metadata files.Ensure data accuracy and consistency for reproducibility and analysis.
