Nursing Manager

Job Summary:
Oversees the operations of 24-hour patient care departments, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective care that prioritizes patient needs and complies with all relevant regulations. Develops and upholds clinical standards, manages resource allocation, and fosters staff development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of 24-hour patient care departments across multiple locations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Establish, implement, and uphold patient care and service standards to meet both member and internal client expectations.
- Design and evaluate processes aimed at improving system efficiency and patient care outcomes across the continuum of care.
- Develop and monitor departmental budgets to optimize human and material resources, identifying strategies to reduce costs and enhance quality.
- Determine appropriate staffing levels, oversee recruitment, training, and development initiatives, and address any human resource or risk management issues.
- Develop, implement, and enforce departmental policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
- Direct fiscal management and quality improvement initiatives, setting and maintaining standards of care and practice.
Experience Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of four (4) years of clinical nursing experience in the relevant specialty area, including four (4) years of management, supervisory, or leadership experience.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or a Master's Degree in Nursing obtained through a direct entry MSN program.
- Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Requirements:
- Leadership experience within Kaiser Permanente internal applicants, defined by specific criteria.
- Thorough knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission standards, and other relevant regulations.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- ACLS or PALS certification may be required for certain positions.
- National Certification preferred within 1 year of hire.
- Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of management experience.
- One (1) year of Magnet/shared governance experience.
- One (1) year of managing in a bargaining environment.
- Master's degree preferred.
