Mechanical Technician

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Technician II to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will perform a range of research and engineering functions related to the layout, construction, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of cardiac lead assemblies and implantable medical devices. This role requires a versatile individual with expertise in electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, chemical, or optical areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Functions:
- Conduct research and perform engineering tasks involving the development and modification of cardiac lead assemblies and implantable medical devices.
- Engage in the layout, construction, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of various devices and systems.
- Technical Operations:
- Execute a variety of tasks in electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, chemical, or optical domains.
- Construct, operate, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, maintain, and test equipment, systems, or products.
- Documentation and Analysis:
- Work from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions to perform tasks.
- Conduct tests, analyze data, and prepare detailed reports.
- Develop and review processing and manufacturing instructions.
- Maintain thorough documentation throughout all development, testing, and analysis phases.
- Planning and Coordination:
- Plan and organize non-routine tasks with appropriate approvals.
- Initiate or maintain project schedules and prioritize work assignments in collaboration with management.
- Solve a wide range of problems requiring interpretation of defined procedures and practices.
- Quality and Validation:
- Validate components and fixtures according to receiving inspection standard procedures.
- Work in a stringent quality system environment, preferably with experience in the medical industry under FDA regulation.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Maintain general knowledge of products and services related to the area and employees involved with specific product lines and services.
- Coordinate efforts with technical and support staff.
- Communicate effectively with diverse groups and maintain strong working relationships in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Exercise discretion regarding work details and negotiate/reconcile differences with team members.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of experience in medical device manufacturing/assembly or 2+ years in a technician trade or equivalent technician experience.
- Previous work experience in the medical industry under FDA regulation is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Ability to perform routine and non-routine moderately complex assignments using standard methods and sequences.
- Experience with validating raw materials, parts, or components through receiving inspection is a plus.
- Proficiency in using SmartScope or other Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) is a plus.
- Independent and Efficient Work:
- Ability to receive general instructions and work independently and efficiently without direct guidance.
- Competence in solving challenges and relaying concerns to management when needed.
- Judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact well with diverse groups and maintain strong working relationships.
- Interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences.
- Judgment and Problem Solving:
- Ability to make adjustments, modifications, and replacements to set processes as directed.
- Broad judgment in troubleshooting proven processes and suggesting alternatives.
- Project Management:
- Understanding of timelines and ensuring deadlines are met with high-quality work.
- Responsibility for completing project tasks successfully within time and budget constraints.
