Staff Quality Engineer
In the role of Staff Engineer, you would be located at our Hannibal, Missouri Manufacturing Center of Excellence (MCoE) and report to an Engineering Manager.
As part of the Quality team, you will collaborate with and coach other functional team members to support new product opportunities and existing production lines to ensure products and services, at a minimum, adhere to ASME Code and National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) requirements, as well as, applicable customer, regulatory, statutory, quality management system, and Watlow business system requirements. You will lead efforts to improve the ASME Quality Management System. And you will also coach, mentor and lead technicians, less experienced Engineers, and other team members as required.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Ensure product and process compliance per ASME Code and National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) requirements per ASME Code Quality Manual.
- Develop, execute, and evaluate project plans, identify gaps, and work with internal and external customers to develop their capability to meet expectations.
- Read and interpret customer specifications and drawings for complex products and implement into business processes, products, and processes.
- Lead Material Review and Corrective Action Boards
- Lead Internal, Agency, and Customer Audits and Plan and Schedule Audits
- Frequent interaction with suppliers and customers, present corrective action results to Customers and coach Suppliers on Corrective Actions
- Attend weekly ECR/ECO meetings to ensure Watlow‘s change control requirements conform to requirements
- Provide leadership, coaching and feedback to less experienced engineers, technicians, and other team members
- Lead efforts, collaborating with functional team members, to ensure products and services are delivered to customers defect free
- Lead actions to eliminate waste (defects, scrap, rework)
- Provide quality leadership and support to production cells and business processes.
- Directs and monitors the work of less experienced employees.
- Interact with Authorized Inspectors (AIs)
- Administrate the ASME Quality Management System
- Administrate the Welder Qualification Programs related to ASME Code and other requirements.
- Administrate the Nuclear Quality Management System
- Other responsibilities as required
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in field of specialization or Bachelor‘s degree and related experience, or equivalent experience (7-10 years)
- Knowledge and Application of ASME Code and National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) requirements for ‘U‘ Pressure Vessels, ‘H‘ Heating Boilers, ‘S‘ Power Boilers and Power Piping.
- Knowledge and Application of Nondestructive Testing/Evaluation (NDT/NDE) methods.
- Work Well within Team Environment and lead project teams formally or informally.
- Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Mastery in the use of various measurement tools/gauges, electrical equipment, temperature & power controls, temperature sensors, and fluid control devices
- Advanced mastery of advanced systematic/ creative problem-solving tools
- Define disposition criteria for non-conforming products, materials, and components
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- Level I, II, or III Certification for Nondestructive Testing/Evaluation (NDT/NDE) methods.
